I like that Michael always shows all levels of the movements, allowing the student to go as deep as it feels right. The students can build up their confidence in their own rhythm and feel the improvements at each class. Michael is always attentive to the students that need a bit more of help and adjust the ones he sees that there is room for more.

Dharma Yoga teacher

Michael Wagner

Michael started his Yoga practice with the legendary Yoga Master Sri Dharma Mittra in 2007, whilst living in New York.

With the true inspiration of his Master’s way of teaching this holy science of “settling the mind into silence”, Michael became Germany’s first accredited Dharma Yoga teacher in 2009 (200hrs DY LOAY TT certificate). He moved back to Germany where he started to teach Dharma Yoga classes in Hamburg for 6 years before he moved to London in 2016.

In 2023 Michael received his 500 hrs DY LOAY TT certification (Yoga Alliance RT) and then in 2024 his 700 hrs DY LOAY TT certificate. He is continuously  teaching many groups, corporate and 1on1 classes in studios all over London and online.

My journey to yoga

In early 2007 my good friend and Yoga teacher, invited me to his community yoga classes in Bayfront Park, Miami. I was working in South Beach, we've met on a casting. I wasn't sure what to expect, but thought I would give it a try. At the time I was studying method acting in New York and certainly felt the need to find some balance and peace of mind. I do remember my first Yoga class very well, and how the practice made me feel. In the lizard pose I've got it. One has to let go and trust.

I've continued to join his classes for the next few weeks and after my return to NYC my Yoga teacher friend introduced me to Sri Dharma Mittra.

I've felt at home, the moment I've entered the old Ashram (Dharma Yoga Center back then located on 3rd Avenue). I will never forget my first class with the Master himself, it was a Wednesday evening Open Level class. I've stayed for the Kirtan after and well, that was all it took. Absolute Bliss.

Over the next months I've deepened my practice with Sri Dharma and with his inspiration on Ahimsa, and quoting a good, very old friend of his (a Swami who died at the age of 127),

"Don't make your stomach a grave yard!"

I became a vegetarian then and two years later I took the 200hrs Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi teacher training, before moving to Hamburg/ Germany, where I've started teaching Dharma Yoga to small groups and 1on1.

I now live in London since 2016, and continue to follow my Master's example of "sharing spiritual wisdom as the highest form of charity."
